GP Connect Access Record: Structured Capability

This page tracks Access Record: Structured as a GP Connect capability. Use GP Connect Access Record Structured Due Diligence for the deeper implementation checklist covering HSCN, SSP, RBAC/JWT, TLS MA, testing, and onboarding.

Supported Conclusion

Access Record: Structured retrieves coded, machine-readable GP record data that a consuming system can import and process. NHS England Digital identifies medications and allergies as production/out-of-beta areas, while other clinical areas such as immunisations, consultations, problems, investigations, outbound referrals, diary entries, and uncategorised coded data remain production beta or development-sensitive depending on supplier progress.

Architecture Pattern

The architecture pattern is RESTful API via Spine Secure Proxy. The API is a structured-access route, not a write-back route: NHS England Digital states it cannot currently be used to create patient-facing medical-record views, create reports for secondary use, or write back to the GP record.

Evidence Status

Evidence status is high for NHS API requirements and capability definition. Live availability still depends on supplier progress, supported record areas, approved use case, onboarding, and local implementation.

Follow-up Evidence

  • Supplier progress by structured record area.
  • Current InterSystems product documentation for Access Record: Structured consumption or routing.
