UK NHS Evidence

This page records official InterSystems UK evidence about NHS-facing healthcare products and services.

NHS Positioning

InterSystems UK's NHS page positions HealthShare and TrakCare as EPR and connected-care solutions for regional and national governments. It says the products are built on an advanced data platform for comprehensive patient records, scalable data management, interoperability, and analytics.

Use NHS Connectivity and GP Connect for the cross-UK distinction between NHS England GP Connect evidence and Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland digital-health connectivity evidence.

Use NHS England Digital Primary Care for the parent section that groups DSIC, GP Connect, GP foundation capabilities, national-service dependencies, procurement/migration, and HealthShare compliance mapping. DSIC is not a UK-wide NHS standard.

Use GP Connect and Spine Equivalents by Nation for the functional comparison of GP Connect-like and Spine-like services across the four UK health systems.

Use Programme CORTISONE / UK Defence Healthcare for UK Defence Medical Services evidence. It is NHS-adjacent public-sector healthcare evidence, but it should not be treated as NHS England deployment evidence.

UK Examples From Official InterSystems Pages

Organisation / context InterSystems product or service Officially stated role Evidence status
NHS England Digital Primary Care HealthShare / Health Connect / IRIS for Health as possible DSIC-aligned components, not proven foundation GP system by default DSIC sources define an England-only primary-care procurement, capability, standards, assurance, migration, and Buying Catalogue model. HealthShare maps strongly to shared-care/integration needs, but a full DSIC GP foundation claim still needs capability, standards, catalogue, and deployment evidence. High for DSIC model; boundary for InterSystems DSIC compliance until catalogue/supplier evidence is found
NHS England GP Connect / supplier-progress context IRIS for Health (Middleware) / HealthShare rows in NHS supplier-progress evidence NHS supplier-progress material names and maps InterSystems rows. Current NHS API pages support the Send Document and Access Record Structured service context. The wiki now treats IRIS for Health (Middleware) Send Document (Send) v2.0.1 and HealthShare ARS Medications / Allergies / Immunisations / Uncategorised cells as parsed NHS table evidence, not live deployment proof. Official NHS GP Connect service/DPIA pages also support national Medicus context, including Patient Facing APIs live with Medicus and Medicus named as a new NHS market entrant for GPs. High for NHS-published row presence, table mapping, and national Medicus context; boundary for product/customer implementation evidence
North West London Integrated Care System HealthShare Health Connect Cloud / HealthShare Health Connect Cloud-based interoperability service integrating acute trusts and a single EHR instance with internal and external systems; stated population served is 2.1 million. North West London acute-trust recruitment evidence separately supports Health Connect / TIE technical context. Moderate: vendor story plus Digital Health/AWS corroboration, a best-effort 6B TIE list, and official acute-trust Health Connect recruitment evidence; official ICS/customer procurement and operating-model source still needed
eConsult / UK NHS triage context IRIS for Health / Health Connect Cloud Selected historically to support data interoperability and integration for eConsult platforms; current InterSystems evidence also says eConsult, part of Huma, chose HCC for NHS integration. Current Digital Front Door public signals support an ongoing eConsult / InterSystems urgent and emergency care role but still do not provide a formal Huma/NHS architecture pack. Moderate-high for historic customer-side selection and current vendor/public InterSystems role signal; high for eTriage marketplace/procurement scope; current architecture, product-version, safety, and deployment artefacts still needed
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust TrakCare Vendor news item says the trust has used TrakCare for 10 years as a unified EPR built on the InterSystems IRIS data platform; trust strategy, quality-account, board, and news sources also name TrakCare, customer-reference status, EPMA/ePMA2, eObs/sepsis, medication-safety, interface, and TrakCare-related digital programme work. High for trust-side TrakCare use; quantified benefits still need formal evaluation evidence
West Midlands / University Hospitals Birmingham HealthShare West Midlands ICSs started bringing cancer registry data into HealthShare; University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is named as leading the project and expected to be first site to go live. Moderate: vendor story plus local eMDT context and independent trade corroboration; official UHB/WMCA source still needed
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust / MERIT HealthShare / integrated care record MERIT involved four West Midlands mental health vanguard trusts and more than 3 million patients; FOI material supports InterSystems supplier/contract and cross-trust integration evidence. Moderate-high for supplier and contract trail; current post-31 March 2026 status still needed
The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital TrakCare EPR ROH selected InterSystems as EPR partner and signed a contract; Contracts Finder OCDS records an EPR award to InterSystems Corporation valued at GBP 13,147,716 for 2026-02-26 to 2036-02-25; ROH medicines strategy material adds adjacent planning evidence for an integrated EPR supporting closed-loop medicines, DMS referrals, EPS prescriptions, and reporting around the chosen EPR system. High for selection, contract, supplier, value, term, and adjacent planning context; implementation outcome still future/current-state evidence
InterSystems in Scotland Edinburgh office / TrakCare / Ensemble / TrakCare as a Service InterSystems has an Edinburgh office; Public Health Scotland records broad TrakCare Patient Management System use across NHS Boards; NHS Shetland FOI names Intersystems-supplied TrakCare ED, an Accident & Emergency patient-management system, and Ensemble; Scotland NDP/MyCare sources provide national-service context; vendor sources add historical NHS Scotland, Forth Valley, and Ayrshire & Arran context. High for office, Public Health Scotland, NHS Shetland, and Scotland national-service context; moderate for vendor programme/outcome claims
InterSystems in Wales TrakCare Lab Enterprise / all-Wales LIMS services NHS Wales board material and Sell2Wales award evidence support the LIMS 2.0 route from WLIMS1 / TrakCare Lab 2016 to TrakCare Lab Enterprise and an all-Wales LIMS services contract with InterSystems. High for board/procurement contract and scope evidence; moderate for vendor-stated scale; does not prove GP Connect or general EHR capability
InterSystems in Northern Ireland Caché / NHAIS licensing Official procurement evidence says InterSystems Caché underpins NHAIS applications used primarily for GP registrations in Northern Ireland; current encompass, EpicCare Link, My Care, Digital Identity Service, and ePharmacy sources provide separate Northern Ireland connectivity context without naming InterSystems. High for Caché / NHAIS licensing and NI service-context boundary; no TrakCare, HealthShare, Health Connect, or GP Connect claim
Programme CORTISONE / UK Defence Healthcare HealthShare / IRIS for Health / IP and EMPI MOD CORTISONE vision evidence describes an integrated Defence healthcare information ecosystem, NHS interfaces, Integration Platform, and EMPI; vendor evidence says MOD selected HealthShare and IRIS for Health; official MOD performance files name InterSystems Corporation for Programme CORTISONE IP and EMPI measures; Contracts Finder OCDS records a FY25-30 HealthShare / IRIS for Health licence award. High for supplier, licence package, value, and term; live clinical scope and PRSB/FHIR interface implementation still need primary programme records

Current Confidence Reconciliation

The 2026-06-21 North West London and eConsult pass did not justify a new UK NHS examples evidence-domain page. The overview plus independent example pages remain sufficient, but the anchor confidence state should be read as follows:

Example Current confidence Interpretation
North West London ICS Moderate Vendor, trade, AWS, 6B, and acute-trust recruitment evidence now support the Health Connect / TIE technical reading, but no public ICB, board, contract-award, or procurement source was found for a North West London ICS Health Connect Cloud operating model.
eConsult / UK NHS triage Moderate-high for current role signal; boundary for architecture Historic eConsult-side IRIS for Health selection is supported, current InterSystems material names eConsult / Huma HCC use, and public Digital Front Door signals name InterSystems & eConsult. Huma/NHS/customer architecture, product-version, safety, and deployment artefacts remain missing.
North Tees and Hartlepool High for trust-side TrakCare use; boundary for formal outcomes Trust sources and vendor evidence support TrakCare use and programme context. Quantified benefits and procurement/outcome evaluation still need formal evidence.
West Midlands cancer / eMDT Moderate Vendor and trade evidence plus local eMDT context support the HealthShare cancer/eMDT reading. A UHB or West Midlands Cancer Alliance source naming InterSystems HealthShare is still missing.
MERIT Moderate-high for supplier and contract trail; boundary for current continuity FOI and vendor evidence support historic supplier/contract facts. Post-31 March 2026 continuity remains unresolved.
Royal Orthopaedic Hospital High for selection, contract, award, and adjacent planning ROH customer and procurement evidence support TrakCare selection/award and strategy material supports adjacent EPR planning. Go-live, clinical-safety approval, and implementation outcomes remain future/current-state evidence gaps.

Devolved-Nation Connectivity Boundary

Nation Current connectivity reading InterSystems reading Boundary
England GP Connect is directly evidenced as an NHS England service/API and messaging context. DSIC is also NHS England-specific as the digital primary-care procurement/capability/standards environment. InterSystems rows exist in NHS supplier-progress material with parsed capability mapping; HealthShare maps to DSIC shared-care/integration components but not proven foundation status. Product standards positioning and supplier-progress rows are not live GP Connect, customer deployment, or DSIC foundation assurance by themselves.
Scotland Scottish Government evidence focuses on national digital-health aims and common information standards; Public Health Scotland and NHS Shetland add official TrakCare / Ensemble evidence. InterSystems evidence is TrakCare/Ensemble/hosted TrakCare plus an Edinburgh office. No GP Connect claim from the current Scotland sources.
Wales DHCW evidence focuses on FHIR/National Data Resource, Welsh primary-care services, and all-Wales pathology/LIMS. InterSystems evidence is strongest for LIMS 2.0 / TrakCare Lab Enterprise. No GP Connect claim from the current Wales sources.
Northern Ireland DHCNI evidence focuses on encompass, EpicCare Link, and My Care; primary care is explicitly outside current encompass scope. InterSystems evidence is currently limited to Caché / NHAIS licensing. No TrakCare, HealthShare, Health Connect, or GP Connect claim from the current Northern Ireland sources.

Evidence Management

Evidence handling for the UK NHS example pages is shared with the Evidence Matrix, Source Register, and Further Research Priorities.

Evidence Limits

  • This overview records the official InterSystems UK example set and links each example to its independent page.
  • Official InterSystems pages are useful for identifying InterSystems' NHS-facing claims and named UK healthcare references.
  • Vendor-published success stories and news items remain moderate evidence until matched to NHS, customer, procurement, standards-body, FOI, or independent sources on the relevant example page.
  • Dates matter: older success-story references and time-limited contracts should be rechecked before using them for current-state decision support.

Follow-up Source Targets

  • Birmingham / West Midlands: UHB, West Midlands Cancer Alliance, affected trusts, BSMHFT/MERIT current-status material, ROH implementation milestones, Medicus integration artefacts, and shared-care-record programme governance.
  • Other UK examples: North West London ICS or member trust publications, current eConsult/NHS architecture material, and formal North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust outcome/procurement material.
  • Cross-cutting evidence: NHS procurement records, contract award notices, standards accreditation registers, trust board papers, clinical-safety artefacts, and current InterSystems technical documentation.
  • Defence healthcare: full CORTISONE contract schedule/text beyond the OCDS summary, DMS programme updates, technical architecture, PRSB/FHIR/interface evidence, and any source explicitly identifying non-healthcare UK Defence use of InterSystems tooling.
