InterSystems in Northern Ireland

The direct InterSystems evidence found for Northern Ireland is narrow but official: a Find a Tender procurement notice says Caché is the underlying database for the NHAIS application used primarily for GP registrations in Northern Ireland and records direct-award licensing to InterSystems for continued NHAIS use.

NIDIS has a separate identity-distribution service live since 2023. Its Phase 2 is intended to replace NHAIS GP-registration functions, while a February 2026 support notice gives no replacement date for cervical screening. Neither source proves complete NHAIS retirement or an InterSystems role in NIDIS. See Northern Ireland Connectivity Equivalents for the phases and evidence dates.

Current HSCNI digital-record evidence points elsewhere for the main care-record stack. DHCNI and Department of Health sources describe encompass as the single digital care record across Northern Ireland's HSC Trusts, EpicCare Link as the read-only professional access route for GPs and other health professionals, and My Care as the public portal excluding GP records and GP-arranged test results. The Department of Health says HSCNI partnered with Epic to build encompass, and Rhapsody says its integration technology supports the encompass programme. Current Digital Identity Service and ePharmacy sources add important Northern Ireland connectivity context but do not name InterSystems.

Boundary

The NHAIS Caché licensing notice does not support a Northern Ireland InterSystems TrakCare, HealthShare, Health Connect, GP2GP, or GP Connect deployment claim. The current public evidence supports Caché/NHAIS licensing plus a separate HSCNI encompass/Epic/Rhapsody record-sharing context and a BSO / HSCNI GP2GP modernisation objective that does not name InterSystems.

The 8 September 2026 source check found the encompass FAQ still dated August 2024. The newer May 2026 My Care page independently retains the GP-record exclusion and also excludes pre-encompass historical information and social-care records from the patient portal. Keep portal display scope separate from the broader information held in encompass.

Follow-up Evidence

  • Search BSO, DHCNI, eTendersNI, and HSC Trust procurement records for any InterSystems evidence beyond NHAIS Caché licensing.
  • Recheck DHCNI and BSO primary-care roadmap material for any change to the current encompass primary-care boundary or any InterSystems-named GP2GP role.
  • Add official HSCNI confirmation if using Rhapsody as more than vendor context.
